Are your knives available for immediate shipment?
Unfortunately, we do not have knives available from stock. Demand is generally so great for all models that we normally have a backlog of years. Currently, we are scheduling knife deliveries for 2st qtr 2015. Randall order limit is one knife every three months per household. Effective November 1, 2007, the limit on extra features that may be ordered on a knife has been set to five chargeable features.

If there's such a demand, why don't you expand, so that orders don't take so long to fill?
Our philosophy has always been to make the best knives we can make, rather than the most knives we can make. We occasionally do add people to our family of craftsmen, but frankly, it is difficult to find experienced individuals who are willing to devote the care to their work that we expect. We simply won't do anything to sacrifice the quality of our knives, and we're convinced that this commitment is what makes our knives so popular. We regret the delay, and we appreciate your understanding.

Order Processing--How are orders processed in terms of priority?
We fulfill orders on a first-come, first-served basis whether you're an individual buyer or a dealer. But it should be noted that most of our dealers submit orders consistently every year, so they will receive knives on a regular basis.

Shipping--What's your shipping policy?
We prefer to ship via United Parcel Service with a 'signature required' for delivery to a physical street address. We also ship via USPS Priority mail/insured. Sorry, no C.O.D.'s.

I have a Model #1 purchased years ago and one I bought recently. They're not exactly alike. Why?
Anything that is truly hand-made is unique. There is simply no way to hand-make exact duplicates. That means one Model 1 might be slightly longer or shorter than another Model 1. Plus, over the years we have varied particular Models somewhat to improve them.

Prices--When I order a knife, do I pay the price in the catalogue now, or the price when it's shipped?
A $50.00 deposit paid on a single knife order will guarantee you the current price upon delivery. Standard sheaths are included in the price guarantee. ***Special order sheaths, such as black, waxed, left hand, etc., are not included in the price guarantee.*** Deposits are not transferable and non-refundable.

Refinish or Repair--How can I have my RANDALL MADE knife refinished or repaired?
Send us your Randall knife (limit of two at a time) with complete instructions for the work to be done. We'll then extend a written quote before starting. Repairs typically take four to six weeks. It is not the policy of Randall Made to work on knives that have been altered, including the old kit blades; these knives are not covered under the Certification and Guarantee. Address for shipment via US Postal Service, shipment via UPS or other carriers: 4857 So. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32839. Note effective September 11, 2001, Randall is not offering re-handle jobs. Spare time and space is devoted to filling military knife orders for our active military customers.

Kits and Special Forge--Are RANDALL MADE kits or special forgings available?
Sorry, but no, the specialized nature of our hand crafting process doesn't make kits feasible and the current backlog of orders prohibits special forgings.

Prices--How can you justify the price of your knives?
We make every effort to keep our prices reasonable for hand-crafted work, and in comparison to others supplying hand-made knives we're quite low. But certainly you can pay much less for a knife. That's why for years, we have reminded customers of this quote from John Ruskin: "Quality. There is hardly anything in the world that some men cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey."

Dealers--Are RANDALL MADE knives sold through dealers? I can't find one near me.
We do have a select and limited group of authorized dealers, with no plans to expand our network. Usually, they will advertise in the yellow pages of the phone book. If you'll send us your address, we'll be happy to direct you to your nearest dealer, or you can always order from us, as about 70% of our customers do.

Replacement Sheaths - Does Randall offer replacement sheaths?
Randall does offer replacement sheaths. The Randall knife is required in-house for the replacement sheath. Standard sheaths are in stock, however, a special order sheath, such as black, waxed, left, or a knife with a forward curved hilt, these sheaths will take approximately five weeks for ordering.

01 carbon tool steel or Stainless--Should I order my knife with a stainless steel blade or carbon tool steel blade?
That's one of the most common questions we get. We feel that high carbon tool steel holds a better edge by about 10 percent and it's much easier to hone. Stainless, however, is more resistant to corrosion and staining, so it's generally the better choice for use in humid or saltwater conditions. Consider how frequently you'll use and hone your knife--and where you'll use it--then decide which material is best for you.

#25 handle--On which models is the #25 handle configuration (leather/stag/leather) available?
The #25 handle is standard on the #25, and available on models #26, #27, #12-9" and #12-9"(#14 grind). This is a difficult handle to construct and due to time constraints we have to limit the availability.

Extra Features--What extra features do you offer on the various models?
Randall offers many extra features which are illustrated in the catalog and not shown on the website. There are literally thousands of possible configurations. Please take a moment to request the printed catalog and carefully review the options before ordering. Once an order is placed, model and feature changes are limited. There is a change order fee, plus the cost of the model/feature change. Beginning November 1, 2007, there is an extra feature limit of five chargeable features on a knife order.

Order Limit--Does Randall have an order limit?
Unfortunately, due to the extended backlog of orders which now exceeds four years, Randall Made Knives has found it necessary to limit individual orders to one knife every three months per household. Beginning November 1, 2007, the extra feature limit is five chargeable features. Your cooperation with the limits are greatly appreciated. If we may be of assistance with the specifications, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Museum--What are the museum and showroom hours?
Museum and Showroom hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on Friday 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. The museum collection includes old and current Randall models and many other knives are presented along with numerous articles of interest.

Change Orders--Do you accept change orders? Is there a fee?
Model number, size and feature changes are very limited. A "one-time" change order request may be submitted in writing. The cut-off date for changes is six months prior to the ORIGINAL scheduled ship date. Once an order is in production, no changes are accepted. Sorry, no exceptions. A change order fee applies to each knife, plus the cost of the model/feature change.

Sheaths--Is there an extra charge for sheaths?
A standard sheath is supplied with all models with one knife exception being the model #9 Pro-Thrower, the sheath is extra. The price of the standard sheath is included in the base price of the knife. If you order a special sheath spec, such as a black sheath, a waxed sheath or a left hand sheath, there is an additional charge and the special "sheath" spec is subject to future price increases.

Micarta - is antique gold micarta a handle material option?
Effective May 2008, Randall was forced to discontinue offering the antique gold micarta handle material. The manufacturer of this material halted production due to problems in the mfg. process with the gold color. There are no other manufactuers that we have found that are willing to take an order for this color. Linen micarta is a very durable handle material and Randall will continue to offer the color of black, green and maroon.

What is the "new" ivorite handle material?
This is a dense phenolic resin material, white in color. Field tested to be every bit as durable as the linen micartas we offer. Randall offers this new handle material on small and medium knives and bowies up to a 9" blade length. Randall does not offer the ivorite on full-tang knives. If you order the Randall catalog, the ivorite is shown on pages 21 and 25.
